- Australian Government's Travel Advisory site >> The Australian Government provides Travel Advisories and Travel Bulletins for its citizens. Find out the latest. See also Australia's Travel Tips for those traveling outside of Australia.
- CIA World Factbook >> This remarkable resource can be downloaded off the CIA's website for free! You will find information about a country's population, geography, economy, military, political structure, government, transportation, and communication's infrastructure. In addition there are maps, flags, and a lot more.
- Countries in the Yahoo Directory >> is a pretty comprehensive resource if you need to pick up some information on a country. The site covers subjects such as Arts and Humanities, Business and Economy, Government, News and Media, Recreation and Sports, Science, Culture, Travel, and more. This is a great resource if you are thinking about traveling or expatriating from the United States.
- Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center >> This is a US Department of Defense website. The Field Support Modules downloads area has a wide range of country information that can be downloaded. As well there are links to foreign language programs.
- Export.gov >> is the United States Government's Export Portal. It provides information on export basics and a large database of market research and trade leads. You do have to register to use the site.
- Foreign Government Resource Center >> from The University of Michigan's Library on the web.
- Government Publications Department >> from Northwestern University Library has created a site to access the public documents of foreign governments.
- Helecon Online >> The HSE Library is the leading research library in economics and business sciences in Finland. Helecon Information Center consists of the printed library collections and HSE electronic campus resources.
- Hot Spots in the World >> There is all kinds of turmoil and unrest in the world today. ASI Group provides updates Monday through Friday about hotspots in the world. If you are traveling overseas, you need to check this site out.
- National Geographic >> is a great resource. My father subscribed to National Geographic the whole time I was growing up at home. I spent hours pouring over articles about space travel, shipwrecks, and foreign cultures. Here you will find articles, pictures, maps, and much more.
- The Index on Africa >> This site is run by The Norwegian Council for Africa. If you are interested in researching Africa, this site is a gold mine of information.
- The Latin American Network Information Center >> specializes in the countries of Latin America.
- The Library of Congress >> has created a site that has a pretty in depth analysis of various countries, their history, culture, and current events. Not all countries are listed.
- The World Bank's listing of Countries and Regions gives you a pretty comprehensive analysis of the macroeconomic problems and issues that many third world nations face.

- US Department of State: Investment Climate Statements >> Investment Climate Statements provide a thorough description of the overseas environments in which U.S. investors must operate. The statements cover general characteristics, such as openness to foreign investment and treatment of foreign investors, as well as details about procedures for licensing and similar administrative matters.
